The Church of the Visitation’s PIHDM for the 4th consecutive year, organised a blood donation campaign on 7th April, 2019 which falls on the 5th Sunday of Lent. (last year’s campaign was held on 18th March, 2018 as part of the 170 years celebration of The Visitation Church). Coordinated by members of the SSVP and in collaboration with other ministries under PIHDM, the campaign was held in the Visitation community hall. A team comprising of doctors, nurses and medical laboratory technicians from the Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar, Seremban (HTJS) were involved in the campaign which started at 8.00am and ended at 3.00pm. Regular donors and some for the first time walked in to register after the 7.30am Tamil mass and subsequently after all the other masses. At the end of the campaign, a total of 95 (ninety-five) pints of blood were successfully collected from the 142 (hundred and forty-two) people who registered. Among the donor was Parish Priest Rev Fr George Harrison. Some 47 (forty-seven) hopeful donors went home feeling disappointed as they were unable to donate due to various medical reasons. The act of donating blood is an act of humanity, of selfless giving and a good way to give back to the community. The 95 pints of blood collected on that day could help save some 285 lives! (One pint can help save up to 3 (three) people).
