Upon arrival at the church, Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Eugene Benedict and his parishioners were on hand to warmly welcomed them. They were served with light refreshments and after which, STC parishioners shared the story and life of St. Therese de Lisieux (popularly known as the Little Flower) who is the patroness of missions. Speaking in both English and Bahasa, Fr. Eugene then gave an enlightening and enriching spiritual talk. He then brought all the migrants to the remains of the old church that were destroyed during a fire on New Year’s Day in 2012. Fr. Eugene too gave a wonderful story of the life of St. Therese till her death. (St. Therese of Lisieux was born on 2 January 1873 and died on 30 September 1897. She was canonized on 29 April 1923 by Pope Pius XI).

The celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Fr. Eugene and concelebrated by Fr. George took placed at the present building. Mass was animated by the migrants themselves with the first reading in Bahasa and second reading in Urdu. It was a beautiful atmosphere to see the migrants participating actively throughout the mass. In his closing, Fr. Eugene together with his parishioners expressed their joy and happiness to have served the migrants. For Fr. Eugene, it was a humbling sight to see some of them on their knees praying, an example of encounter with Jesus and a missionary witness. After mass, the migrants were then served with refreshments. Before leaving, they thanked Fr. Eugene and the parishioners for the wonderful hospitality rendered.
