Visitation's Praise and Dance 1st year Anniversary - 10th February, 2018

The Praise and Dance (PD) group under the Women’s Desk (WD) of the Church of the Visitation, Seremban celebrated its 1st year anniversary on the 10th of February, 2018. A celebration was held in the Visitation Community hall and attended by some 70 members including the PD qualified instructors who are from the Methodist church to mark the occasion as well as to celebrate Chinese New Year.

The day started with an opening prayer and followed by a Praise and Dance exercise. A cake cutting ceremony followed suit with Parish Priest Rev Fr. George Harrison together with PD instructors, WD coordinator Lalitha and fellow PD members – Bernadette, Violet, Rosemarie on stage. The emcee for the day was Kamala Devi, a retired GH staff nurse who joined the PD about 3 months ago. The Visitation PD has about 100 members mostly ladies and some men as well as non-Christian members like Kamala.

After the cake cutting, Lalitha gave a short speech. In her speech, she shared how the Praise and Dance in the Visitation Church started. For the benefit to all, she also briefly shared how WD work closely with SSVP to offer help and aid to those who are in need including legal advice. Fr George in his speech thanked all for attending. He encouraged the members to remain healthy and vibrant. He also invited them to find ways to reach out to help others and perform social works that will benefit the society. Bernadette then read out a short message sent by Sr. Theresa Chua. Feeling sad for not able to attend, Sr. Theresa thanked the instructors for faithfully guiding the group and wished them and all PD members well. Breakfast were served and this followed by games organized with the help of Audrey Sumitra.

Three (3) sets of lucky draws were held on that day.

Ruth Chiang, the Negri Sembilan PD Chairperson and also a qualified instructor came forward to say a few words. Looking on by fellow instructor Wong Yoon Wah, she briefly explained the beauty of Praise and Dance and how one can praise God with their body, mind and spirit. The 3 different colours on the official uniform worn by the instructors represents Hope, Faith and Love according to Ruth. Together with her fellow instructors, they gave 3 energetic Praise and Dance performances on stage.

Blessing and distribution of mandarin oranges, ang pow and followed by closing prayer marked the end of the programs held in the hall before every one adjourned to the church cafeteria for a CNY luncheon and fellowship.
